Initial Setup

Welcome to Scavenger Hunt! When you first load Scavenger Hunt the app for either Jira or Confluence, you'll start with a blank slate and need to configure a couple of items firstfew items before any rewards can be granted. Both products share many of the same configuration settings, so we'll call point out any differences between Jira and Confluence. If none are mentioned, assume that it's a shared setting.

Admins will find three main points of interactivity within the app, and standard users only two. Rewarded segments are notified via comments on the Jira Issue or Confluence Document. There are also a User Page and Settings Page that can be can be accessed within each product.

From the top of your screen in Jira click the ‘Apps’ drop down and then select the ‘Scavenger Hunt' option denoted by the detective’s icon

All configuration settings can be accessed from a single page, depending on your installation location you can access it as noted below.

Access Configuration within Jira

To access Scavenger Hunt settings, click on the Settings cog in the upper right corner, select 'Apps' from the dropdown menu, and then choose 'Scavenger Hunt Settings' from the following screen on the left.

To access Scavenger Hunt Settings, click on the Settings cog in the upper right corner. On the next screen, under the ‘APPS’ heading you will find ‘Scavenger Hunt Settings’

Sharing settings between Jira and Confluence

If you’re using the app in both Jira and Confluence you can configure it to share both its settings and user scores between the systems. We recommend you set this up as soon as possible as some settings will be overwritten.

In the ‘Advanced' tab of each setting page is a private endpoint, copy these between their respective products and click ‘Set Endpoint’ on each to start linking activity. Once linked the first system to have activity will overwrite the other.

User Pages

The User Pages in Scavenger Hunt display each user's current score and available PowerUps. Users can also see which rewards they have earned and which ones they are still working towards.

Configuration Pages

The Configuration Pages in Scavenger Hunt allow admins to manage rewards, set eligible activities, and adjust the probability of reward increments. These pages are crucial for setting up and customizing the app to fit your team's needs.
